ADULT STUDY GROUP

Most everybody, and parents especially, acknowledge the value of Sunday School for the children of a Parish.  Indeed, providing for their children’s spiritual growth often is the motivation for families to get involved and active in the community of St. George.   

Continued spiritual growth is equally important for adults.  Christian education promotes spiritual development and maturity. It also provides Christians with the knowledge and understanding needed to build a solid foundation of faith, allowing us to navigate life’s problems while remaining rooted in our Christian values. 

Orthodoxy in America, while experiencing tremendous growth, is still relatively unknown. This is often, for us, a tremendous opportunity to explain our Faith and our Church to friends and co-workers who may ask about our traditions, practices and beliefs.  Adult education is one of the ministries offered at St. George that can help her members gain more confidence and better understanding when fielding these questions. 

Adult classes also benefit the church by helping its members find new avenues for service, building new relationships with other members of the class and strengthening each individual’s relationship with Christ.  

The Current venue for the Adult Class is a lesson delivered weekly to interested Church members who have provided email addresses. An ‘outgrowth’ of the Adult Study Group, with the blessing of Fr. Fadi, the Inquirer’s Class has been established, specially designed to meet the needs, guide the inquiry and answer the questions of adults of all faith backgrounds who are on a journey of discovery about the Orthodox Faith. This class meets every other week during Orthros. 

Both groups reflect the commitment of the leaders of St. George to emphasize the fundamentals of our Faith and to spiritually strengthen our Faithful members and, as well, our potential members.
